The professional liability plan for private practice educators, consultants, independent contractors and counselors.

In Many Ways You're Breaking Ground.

As a private practice professional in the education field, you are exceptional. Mention the words "private practice" and most people think of doctors and lawyers. Yet since the mid 1980s, more and more professionals in the education field have chosen to go the "private practice" route   you included!

The Private Practice Professional Liability Plan is Designed Just For You.

You make all the decisions concerning your professional future, and you take all of the responsibility for your actions. You owe it to yourself to get the protection you need. Now there's a plan just for you ... The Private Practice Professional Liability Plan.

Requirements.

  1. Job activities must be of an educational nature.

  2. Educational background must be of an educational nature.

  3. Prior work history must be of an educational nature.

  4. You must be a member of a participating association.

Your Private Practice May Leave You Vulnerable to Lawsuits.

Unfortunately, because you're in business for yourself, you do not have the professional liability protection often provided by educational entities for their employees. This means you could be unprotected from lawsuits arising out of your professional activities   a very real threat to all educators today. After all, any claim for alleged negligence, even though it may be groundless, false or fraudulent, must be defended, and defense costs can be extremely high.

It's Easy and Affordable to Protect Yourself.

This plan is easy to understand and easy to fund. It has low group rates, thanks to the purchasing power of many educators just like you.

Don't Wait Any Longer.

Read through the rest of this information to see the generous features. Then fill out the application and send it in. The questions are easy to answer and don't take long to complete. This plan may be the best thing you've ever done for your professional career.

Here's the Plan.

The Private Practice Professional Liability Plan covers you from liability arising out of those professional education activities for which you've received formal specialized training. This plan protects you from damages resulting from such claims as well as defense costs, legal fees, charges and expenses.

Coverage can be provided for you as an individual, as a partnership or as a corporation.

Three Plans Are Available.

$250,000/$500,000.

$1,000,000/$1,000,000.

$1,000,000/$3,000,000.

Limits of Liability apply to: each wrongful act or series of continuous, repeated or interrelated wrongful acts or occurrence/annual aggregate.

Choose Your Deductible.

We know that as a private practice educator, you need flexibility. That's why this plan offers you three deductible choices.

Minimize your out-of-pocket expenses with the $250 deductible.

Or, save on your plan premiums with the $500 or $1,000 deductible.

The choice is yours.

Here's What's Covered.

Damages resulting from a negligent act, error, omission, misstatement or misleading statement.

Wrongful acts of other persons for whose actions you are legally responsible.

Defense costs in suits alleging wrongful acts, even if any of the allegations of the claim or suit are groundless, false or fraudulent. (Defense costs are included within the Limits of Liability.)

Expenses incurred by you in any actions or suits alleging a covered wrongful act other than loss of earnings.

Premiums on appeal bonds and/or premiums on bonds to release attachments for an amount not in excess of policy limit.

Optional coverage protects you for work done on your behalf by subcontractors.

Optional Premises Liability.

This limited general liability coverage protects you against claims for bodily injury or property damage caused by you as an independent contractor while performing services at a location other than your own office for just $100 annually. (If you work out of your own facility, Premises Liability Insurance should not be considered as an alternative to your general liability policy.)

Special Reporting Feature.

If you become aware of any occurrence that might be reasonably expected to give rise to a claim against you and you give written notice, then any claim that is later made against you arising out of this act will be treated as a claim made during your policy period, even if you are no longer covered by this plan.

Extended Reporting Option.

If this policy is canceled or if you decide for any reason not to renew, you have the option of purchasing an Extended Reporting Period for 75 percent of your annual premium. This grants you a period of 12 months following your cancellation date in which to give written notice to us of claims made against you during the extended period for any wrongful acts committed in the previous policy period. This option is not applicable to any policy cancellation due to non-payment of premium.
